Arrowhead Chorale is a non-profit vocal ensemble consisting of just over 50 auditioned singers that bring fine performances of distinctive vocal ensemble literature to the Arrowhead region of Minnesota, Northern Wisconsin, and beyond. The Chorale actively develops ambitious and memorable programming for the Twin Ports, and our repertoire spans five centuries of western music traditions.

My soul doth magnify the Lord! This expression of praise has inspired composers for a thousand years. Our Holiday Celebrations and Jubilations concert celebrates the promise of new life from the profound depth of Rachmaninoff to the warmth and tenderness of Tony Alonso and Ryan Murphy. Movements from John Rutter’s radiant Magnificat form the centerpiece in this evening of reflection and Christmas joy. The Arrowhead Chorale and Orchestra welcome back Strikepoint as our special guests.

AUDITION FOR US:

The Arrowhead Chorale is a distinctive singing fellowship seeking trained, versatile vocalists. Auditions for the upcoming season will be held on August 25 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at First Lutheran Church in Duluth. While we are prioritizing altos for this season, auditions are open to all voice parts.

ANGEL TICKETS:

With the mission of engaging and inspiring all individuals throughout the region through choral music, the Arrowhead Chorale is offering a new ticket sponsorship program. In the hopes of sharing our performances with those who may not be able to afford tickets, supporters of this program are able to purchase additional tickets to be available for those who wish to enjoy any of our upcoming performances but who do not have the funds. They say music uplifts the soul, and our goal is for our Angel Ticket program to do just that.

Our Chorale Leadership

Dr. Matthew LeRoy Faerber

Artistic Director
Dr. Matthew Faerber joined Arrowhead Chorale as Artistic Director for the 2018-2019 season. He holds advanced music degrees from the University of Iowa and Brigham Young University. An accomplished conductor, he has led choirs on four continents, with performances in Vienna, Rome, Rio de Janeiro, and Tianjin, China. He has also conducted festivals and clinics throughout the United States. As a pianist, Dr. Faerber has earned solo honors, performed in recital and concerto settings, and collaborated widely with vocalists and instrumentalists. He remains active as a collaborative pianist, vocal coach, educator, and leader of choral music.

Jerry Kaldor

Assistant Director
Jerry Kaldor, a Two Harbors native, discovered a love of singing through school and church choirs. He studied music at the University of Minnesota Duluth, performing with the University Singers and Elizabethan Singers. Jerry taught elementary music in Hermantown from 1988 to 2020. In 1992, he founded and directed what became the Lake Superior Youth Chorus, serving as Artistic Director for ten years. He has also served in worship ministry with the Vineyard Church for more than twenty-five years and directed choirs at the College of St. Scholastica. Jerry is grateful to share great music through Arrowhead Chorale.

Stanley Wold

Artistic Director Emeritus
Dr. Stanley R. Wold led Arrowhead Chorale from the 1990s through the 2016-2017 season. He recently retired as Professor of Music and Director of Choral Activities at the University of Minnesota Duluth, where he taught from 1984 to 2017. He holds degrees from Concordia College, the University of Southern California, and the College-Conservatory of Music at the University of Cincinnati. At UMD, he directed choirs that performed nationally and internationally, and he collaborated with Arrowhead Chorale on major works by Bach, Mozart, and Duruflé. Dr. Wold remains active as a church musician, adjudicator, clinician, and mentor.
